One of the Pack Goals is to have all of our leaders trained. To achieve this the following training must be completed.
Most is available on-line, some by video and some by attending a class. Please help us to reach our goal,
as well as provide yourself with the best resources you can have by completing the training.
University of Scouting is not required, but is highly recommended. As soon as you complete any training,
please be sure to let the CubMaster know so your file will be updated and you will be recognized for your efforts.
Training:
Every Scout deserves a trained leader. To be a trained leader you must have three courses (2a, 2b, & 3):
1. Fast Start – Video library or on-line at http://www.scouting.org/myscouting
2. Basic leader training – This consists of two parts:
a. Cub Scout Leader Specific
b. "This is
Scouting". 45 minute program to learn basics of scouting.
Required for all new leaders. Send via email or print an extra copy for Bridget.
3. Risk Zone – This is a required course not available online.
4. Youth Protection training – This is a specific hour long course that is taught using a video produced by national
BSA but the basics are in the guide to Safe Scouting, Youth Protection Chapter. Now available on-line!

Webelos Den leaders are urged to attend an additional camping weekend training session run by the district.
These are taught several times a year and take one day.
Optional Training:
Monthly Roundtable Meetings – Held the first Thursday of each month at PTI.
BALOO – Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation
University of Scouting is a district run, daylong training event. Typically there are more than 30 sessions that you can
choose from. Attend the ones that concern you. Click on Programs; Training to find online info.

Leader Meetings:
These will be held on an as needed basis, but are generally held via email to disburse info.
Fast Track:
Entire year planned for you , online den meeting plans will guide you through an entire year of scouting.
Keep it simple use what works. In a way this replaces Program Helps (see below), but both can be used.
Cub Scout Program Helps:
The annual Cub Scout Program Helps is such an important resource for Cub Scout leaders that it has often been called
"the foundation for successful Cub Scouting." These program helps provide a detailed, easy-to-follow program to assist
leaders in planning meetings. The Cub Scout Program Helps book, containing an entire year's worth of program planning
assistance, is available from your local council service center. The Pack will provide these for den leaders.
Achievement Trackers:
Each den will be provided with an Excel spreadsheet that will allow the den leader to track all achievements, electives and
special awards. Training will be provided, and updates will be sent back to leaders after pack meetings.
Each month before a pack meeting, leaders will update and submit a copy of the spreadsheet to the cubmaster for award
distribution.
